Move On When Ready Information Meeting #2

In December, we had a full meeting about Move On When Ready, the program that allows students to take college classes before they graduate from high school- free of charge.  At that meeting, the following documents were given and documents used:

MOWR Info. PowerPoint
MOWR Intent to Participate & Policies and Procedures
SAT Brochure
ACT Brochure

Click on any of these to see the full document.

At every point in the process, students and parents will have questions that need answering.  On Thursday (2/2) evening at 6 pm, the Guidance Office will be available to field questions in an open forum for parents and students.  This will allow us to talk about the next steps.

** If you are considering Georgia State University (formerly known as Perimeter), you must take either an SAT or an ACT.  There is only one more chance to take each of these tests before the May 1st deadline.  The two links above "SAT Brochure" and "ACT Brochure" will help you to see when the last day to sign up for the March 11th (SAT) and April 8th (ACT) are.  Please register for one or both of these tests ASAP and make sure to designate that the scores go to Georgia State when registering.  All other colleges that students from SCHS typically go to can use the Accuplacer if there is not an SAT nor ACT score available.

Why Aren't They Telling Seniors Honor Graduate Status?

I know that we are all on pins and needles about honor graduate status.  We are looking forward to making that information available to students as soon as we finish receiving MOWR grades from students who have taken classes this past semester at one of our local colleges.  To date, we have gotten all grades from Georgia State, Athens Tech, and Toccoa Falls.  If you went to one of these last semester, we have your grades.  After all of these grades (which count in the calculations) are entered on the transcript, we will verify accuracy and then release this information.  Accuracy is our first priority.  Thanks!

The application date opens on Monday, January 16 – closing on Wednesday, March 15, and the awards will be made by the beginning of May.

Let's get on these applications.  We have not because we ask not!!
