Did you End Up Failing a Class this Year?

If you did not pass your ACADEMIC class this school year, but you made at least a 65, Credit Recovery is a great option to make that F possibly go away.  Students who are eligible will receive work that (when successfully done) raise their grade up to a passing 70.  Teachers are reaching out to students who will need credit recovery with this option.  Here is a link to the application that gives more details:

Summer Credit Recovery Application

If your student failed with less than a 65, he or she will need to take the full course summer school option.  This option can be found at Foothills Charter High School.  For more information about this option, email Mike Kulp at mike.kulp@socialcircleschools.org

Dual Enrollment Students

Do you believe that you have completed 90 credit hours (5 credit hours per class) at GMC?

Do you believe that you have completed 60 credit hours (3/4 credit hours per class) at Athens Tech or Georgia State?

Have you been awarded an Associate's Degree already?

If you believe that have done any of these three, we would like to recognize that.  Please print the form that is linked below and return it to Mike Kulp, no later than Friday, May 10th.

The Form

Honors Night: May 14th at 6 pm

It is hard to believe that we are back at this point in the year.  The guidance staff has been hard at work collecting names of students who will be recognized at Honors Night.  Everyone who will be recognized at Honors Night will receive an invitation in the mail.  (This a great reason to always update your address with the school if you move.)

Invitations will go out Tuesday, May 7th, at the latest.  Please be watching your mail box for this invitation.

One challenge for our school is that freshmen are not as well recognized as they will be in the 10th, 11th and 12th grade years.  This is due in large part to the fact that freshman cannot qualify for the "Cumulative A Average Honor Roll" because they have not completed the first year's grades as of Honors Night.  Though this can be disappointing, three years of honor await those freshmen who continue to be excellent.

If you fear that you may have not gotten an invitation by accident, please feel free to call our front office on Thursday or Friday (5/9 or 5/10) to see if your student is on the list.  We love all the amazing things that SCHS students accomplish and look forward to showing off on May 14th!
