The Project LEAP 2022 student application is now open.   Students can apply on our website, by using this link: https://projectleap.formstack.com/forms/studentapplication, or by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer. The application will remain open until April 30th at 11:59PST.  Alternatively, I would love to meet with you or your students to give more information about the program and walk them through the application process.

Rising sophomores with a 3.0 GPA or higher are eligible to apply.  Sophomores and Juniors with a 3.25 GPA or higher are also eligible.  Due to the influence of the pandemic on student success, we will review applications of students whose GPA are at least a 2.8.  Note: it is not the practice of Project LEAP to admit students after their sophomore year of high school however due to the pandemic and growing academic challenges, this is the final year that Project LEAP will accept students grades in 10th and 11th grade.

Students interested in applying will need to attach an unofficial transcript.

Accepted students will receive:

  • One on One peer mentorship
  • Participation in a nationwide virtual program
  • Consideration for up to $25,000 in scholarship funds
  • A Letter of Recommendation from an elected public figure: students last year received letters from mayors, assembly members, and city council members
  • A distinguished leader graduation cord
  • Additional college and career preparation workshops
  • Local outings and “LEAP meets”

Olin College of Engineering - $100,000 Scholarship Opportunity

The Olin Tuition Scholarship

Part of our commitment to supporting an academically talented and diverse student body is offering every enrolled student a merit-based scholarship, called the Olin Tuition Scholarship. The Olin Tuition Scholarship covers half the annual tuition for each enrolled student and is awarded for eight semesters of full-time study. This merit-based scholarship is currently valued at $110,000.

Need-Based Aid

Olin extends its commitment to affordability by meeting full-demonstrated financial need for all eligible students (US citizen and permanent residents). This means that Olin will make up the difference between the Cost of Attendance (tuition, room, board, fees and supplies) and your students’ estimated family contribution.

Affordability Facts Incoming class 2021-22

● Olin Tuition Scholarship: $27,806 awarded to 100% of enrolled students
● Grants and Scholarships: $27,806 to $82,485 in grants and scholarships awarded
● 48% qualified for need-based assistance

Additionally, once they are on campus we invite our students to participate in our financial wellness programing, called Helping Oliners Prepare for Economic Success (HOPES). Through this program we help students develop lifelong financial skills that empower them to take ownership of their finances, leverage financial tools, develop an accurate financial vocabulary, make informed choices and navigate their financial landscape after graduation.

The Matchlighters Scholars

The Matchlighters Scholarship provides ten hours of one-on-one support from experienced counselors — at no cost. It’s awarded to high-achieving students from low-income households who have solid grades, but just need a little extra help navigating the college application process.

You can apply if:

1. You're trying to get into college or graduate school. You can be a second-semester junior in high school, a senior in high school, a transfer student, a gap-year student, or continuing your educational journey after some time away. No matter your story, we’ve got a counselor for you.
2. You've earned a 3.0 unweighted GPA. You’ll submit copies of your high school transcript as part of the application.
3. Your family income qualifies you for one of the following: free/reduced-price lunch, SAT/ACT fee waivers, enrollment in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families, etc. Check this table to find out if you qualify: https://bit.ly/3Is4k4m.
4. You're a U.S. resident.

To apply, your first step is to thoroughly complete this form. Then, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to sign our Student Pledge and Parent/Guardian Consent Form.

If you are a rising junior, senior or high school graduate looking to apply to college this fall, here's your application.
