Virtual Mini Camp College is a one-hour topic-specific informative college planning webinar. All high school students and any adults helping a student navigate the college admission process are invited to participate. This summer's series continues this week, and there are two additional sessions scheduled soon. Extracurricular Activities: What will impress college? Meet Your New High School Counselor!

My name is Christina Justice and I am thrilled to serve as the School Counselor at Social Circle High School this year! My journey to school counseling started here in Social Circle when I joined the team as SCHS's first college adviser. I quickly realized I loved the work and working with people in this community. I returned to school and completed my Master's in Education and Education Specialist Degree in Professional School Counseling at the University of Georgia. 

During this time I served on the Leadership Team at U-Lead Athens as the 9th-11th Program Coordinator. I also worked as a Graduate Assistant and Admin. Team Member for the Georgia College Advising Corps and was a Fellow for the Behavioral Health Development in Georgia Project. 

I am excited to continue working with the students, families, and community members of Social Circle in this new role!

Kulp Is Signing Off

 To all my SC Family,

I wanted to say thank you for accepting me into the Circle. On June 22nd, I started my retirement.  This has been the most amazing place to finish my career!  From the first day of working here, you have made me feel welcome.  It has been wonderful helping students to accomplish their goals over the last five years.  

I am leaving SCHS in capable and caring hands.  Ms. Christina Justice is coming to SC straight out of the Counseling Program at UGA.  She is going to be great!

I wish all of you the very best as this school and community continue grow.  Have a great summer and a great 2021-2022 school year!

Career & Technical Scholarships

 

500 scholarships at up to $2,500 each

The Career & Technical Scholarship Program is funded through the generosity of Horatio Alger Association Members, Jim F. Dicke II and Dennis Washington.  Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential)
• Enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2021
• Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States
• Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
• Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
• Be under the age of 30
• Be a United States citizen

Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.  All scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient.
