Senior Capstone Information- Save the Dates for Senior Meeting Notification

Senior meetings the week of Jan 13-17

Senior meeting for all Dual Enrollment seniors Friday, Jan. 17th

In an effort to provide all students with an education that leads to being college and career ready, students will participate in a college or career- related capstone project. Reflecting on who they are and what they want to do, the Capstone project provides students with the opportunity to explore a career of personal or professional interest and address the latest trends or issues through focused study and applied research.

At Social Circle High School, completing the Senior Capstone Project is required for ALL students who want the privilege of participating in 1) Senior Week activities during the Spring 2020 semester and 2) Social Circle High School’s graduation ceremony.

Mr. Armstrong will be meeting with all seniors in early January to explain the Capstone Project in detail, but he wanted to give parents a short overview.  The meetings will take place during Redskin Period for senior Redskin groups.  In addition, we will have a meeting on a Friday, January 17th for all Dual Enrollment students who are not on campus during Redskin Period.  This year we will be asking the students to first decide what they would like to do after graduation:
-attend a 2 year or 4 year school
-attend a technical school
-join the military
-join the workforce

After they choose their post high school path, the students will complete assignments to help prepare them for their next step.  The goal is to help students better prepare for life after high school and create a short portfolio to take with them going forward.

All capstone projects must be completed by Friday, March 13th.  During the month of January/February when the current 9th - 11th graders are working on registration for next school year, seniors will have time to complete their capstone project.  For those seniors who are off campus, all documents can be uploaded to a google classroom.

More specific details will be shared at the senior meetings listed at the top of this announcement.
