AAUW's STEMEd for Girls Kicks Off June 1!

Did you know that most college women who major in science, engineering, technology and math disciplines were interested in STEM as early as 5th grade? But because they didn't receive the same support and recognition as young men, they got a later start to pursuing their dreams.

The good news is that parents and caregivers can make a big difference in setting girls up for STEM success. That’s why we're inviting young women everywhere—and the adults rallying for them—to join AAUW this summer for our second annual FREE STEMEd for Girls virtual workshop series!

The program kicks off Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. ET with our Caregivers-Only Session. We welcome parents, guardians, family members, educators and others to learn practical tips to advocate for high-school girls interested in STEM. For example, you’ll learn to:

  • navigate the college-application process.
  • explore options for securing financial aid.
  • foster your girl's interest in STEM.
  • select the best courses to reach girls' goals, and more!

You register once for the series, but you can attend as many or as few sessions as work with your schedule, since each session acts as an independent source of information and inspiration. Please spread the word to help girls nurture their interest in STEM! If you have any questions, contact stem@aauw.org.

Sincerely,

Leshell Hatley, Ph.D.
